Creative Night

This program hopes to provide an artistic space for young people ages 10-18 to be around people who understand their current lived experience in grief. While grief is the reason everyone is in the room, we use these nights to focus on the creative process, community, friendship, and the power of storytelling. We will explore various arts, music, and other creative mediums. Youth are asked to come as they are – if grief is on their mind, they are welcome to express it in art or music and share. If they come with emotions of joy or excitement, they are also welcome to express it and share.

These nights are meant to provide space for young people to find the balance between their needs to explore and make-sense of grief and find new hope.

Capturing stories through the lens

Our annual photography workshop at the Omaha Luminarium, inviting young people ages 10-18 who have gone through an 8/10 week family grief group to learn about the art of storytelling through photography. This event provides young people time to be with a community of people who understand their current lived experiences, allows them to find new joy in a novel art form, and gives them an opportunity to integrate their loss story into their life as they work to make sense of grief.

Rise and Vibe

This is a dance-themed workshop at the Kaneko Center, which goes beyond simply creating artistic movements. It is an opportunity to actively craft something meaningful alongside peers who truly understand grief. Whether the movements are flowing, energic, or rhythmic, this fun and physically engaging workshop allows youth to unleash their creativity. Additionally, our group will enjoy exclusive access to the museum, where we will spend the day immersed in hands-on art and movement activities.
